Lung cancer warning signs

Posted by Collective on Nov 30, 2008 in Uncategorized

Most lung cancers affect the cells that line the air passages of the lungs. This is a very aggressive type of cancer and has a higher mortality rate than many other kinds of cancers. The chances of recovery is poor for those whose cancers are detected at a late stage.

The specific in cases of lung cancer depend on the location of the cancer. For instance, when the lung tissues are affected, it can cause breathing difficulties including coughing, shortness of breath and wheezing. The patient may also complain of chest pain.

If the cancer has spread to the esophagus, the patient may report difficulties in swallowing food. If the cancer has affected the nerve tissues, the result may be hoarseness or even paralysis of the vocal cords. There may also be pain that travels down the arm along the outside.

Some symptoms are not linked to the cancer affecting a specific body part. These include fatigue, weakness, weight loss and loss of appetite.

Early detection of the tumor is critically important – late diagnosis can mean a significantly worse prognosis for the patient. Chances of survival drop dramatically when lung cancer progresses from an early stage to an intermediate or late stage disease. Given the low chances of survival characteristic of this disease, it is better to be vigilant.

Stage 4 disease, where the lung cancer has spread to distant body parts including vital organs like the liver, bones and brain, is an advanced malignancy that is very difficult to treat.

The presence of other health conditions like hypertension may introduce complications. In such cases, the doctor might prescribe drugs for treatment of this condition. The presence of any symptoms of elevated blood pressure in a lung cancer patient will cause the doctor to be extra vigilant.

If one of more of the symptoms of lung cancer are present, the doctor may order a CT scan or a chest x-ray. This can often reveal the presence of cancerous lesions in the lungs. The levels of calcium and cortisol in the blood may also give clues about the presence of cancer — many doctors use these tests as part of their diagnostic repertoire.

In the end, your instinct may be the best indicator of all. If something does not feel right, do not hesitate to contact a doctor for further investigation. It is always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health and well-being.

Please note that the above does not constitute medical, health or any other kind of professional advice or assistance. Make sure you get in touch with a doctor / medical professional for advice and assistance on all health related issues.

Back to School Laptop Insurance – Get it Right

Posted by Collective on Nov 30, 2008 in Uncategorized

Computer and Laptop usage has now reached record levels, with more and more classrooms being equipped with more and more computer equipment, rapidly replacing A4 paper and text books, indeed, some Schools now even require every student to own a laptop computer.

these days, much of the so called old fashion written work are replaced with the student typing work directly into their laptops. This can have many advantages, but where an advantage appears, a negative situation will be present. Can you imagine a high School with, let’s say 2000 students and just for an example, lets say each student|pupel|scholar} has a laptop or notebook valued at five hundred pounds. So now we have 2000 young scholars looking after over a million pounds worth of laptop and Notebook apparatus!

Now that is starting to sound very expensive for the parents! Especially when you stop and think that every student will be carrying the laptop both to and from School. Think how many will be prone to loss, theft and Accidental Damage that is going to take place. This could start to get very costly for the parents of the forgetful and careless children of the class.

You can start to imagine some of the storys children will come up with for the reason they have not brought their laptops into School, or indeed, returned home with at the end of the day!

Imagine how children could fail to look after their Notebooks! Swinging the laptop bag around in the air before throwing it 5 metres at their best friend, dropping it down a flight of stairs in the hope it will fail so they have the perfect excuse not to had the home work in on time – I would love to see some of the reasons for claiming accidental damage on peoples Laptop Insurance claim forms!

Now if we move onto loss, can you imagine, over the space of a year how many students loose their Notebooks, left on the train or School bus because their minds were focused on the last text message or new ipod download.

Yet another vital component about loss is not to get it confused with Theft, as they are two totally different factors, especially when it comes down to Laptop Insurance Cover and illegal insurance fraud!

Many people automatically assume that because they have purchased Laptop Insurance Cover they will be covered for loss, only to find when making a claim that loss was not included in the policy. Whilst some people find this out too late, others are aware they are not covered for loss, so they report the laptop as stolen so they can claim on their Laptop Insurance under the theft cover, this practise can then become illegal Insurance fraud, so its always good practice to check the terms and conditions of any insurance policy to make sure you will be covered for the loss of your laptop computer to protect yourself from this situation.

The same rule applies to both Laptop Insurance as well as the same sort of cover you get on say an iPhone Insurance policy, so it really is important as advised above to read the terms and conditions of any prospective insurance policy before you purchase, so to avoid any potential law breaking situation with your insurance company or indeed the Police!

Organizing to save time

Posted by Collective on Nov 30, 2008 in Uncategorized

Being occupied with something will keep your mind off worry because you will not be thinking of several different things at one time. You can make good use of your time away from your job to increase your knowledge of the”meaning of life”, to work at a hobby or project, and then to relax and be happy. This is great balance and when you are feeling happy and content your are better organized.

Perhaps you are a single mother and in a bit of huury each day. Make a point to sit and relax each day and plan. If you are careful you should be able to find just a few hours each day to apply yourself to being better organized.

Most of us use only a small amount of our true capabilities and we can all do so much more. You can study new things. This will give you new purpose in life and a feeling of fullfilment. Read nonfiction books to increase your knowledge of everyday things in life and to learn new skills or to improve on existing ones. All of this will help you to be better organized.

The more organized you are the more time you will have for for yourself. As you become better organized, take on a new after hours project. Start with something small and work your way up to devoting more and more time to your project. Perhaps you can take on a new woodworking project, for example. Once you complete it, you will feel good about yourself and how you are spending your new, organized time.
